Nature-based tourism is a focus area in Sweden and Norway. The Interreg Aurora funded small-scale project Borderless, responsible hiking tourism will work with marketing, facilitation and information. The measures are seen to a small extent in connection across the border, even though these attractive areas are physically connected. The information on each side of the border is good but lacking a cross-border connection. There is a general lack of up-to-date information.
There is a great deal of opportunity in working with up-to-date, digital information aimed for the mountain walker in the border mountains. The field of work is large and complex and there is a need to involve several people in order to lay the foundations for a good and feasible main project. The small-scale project must get an overview of available information, clarify possible technical solutions and, through active dialogue with reindeer husbandry, other businesses and local communities, clarify their needs and wishes in a main project.
The small-scale project will implement following activities:
- Dialogue meetings with local communities and reindeer herding districts/Sami
- Clarification of available digital bases, extent of the need of change
- Mapping of technical solutions and cost for Webgis
- Developing a main project
