Interreg Arctic Cooperation

Combining Interreg resources and skills to get the best results for Arctic communities.

About us

The Interreg Arctic Cooperation is a partnership between the Interreg Aurora and Interreg NPA programmes designed to enhance visibility, improve coordination, and create synergies.

The Interreg Arctic Cooperation aims to share best practices, pool resources, and connect stakeholders for more effective collaboration in Arctic regions and communities.

Building on the successes and experience of the Arctic Cooperation initiative launched in 2016, the Interreg Arctic Cooperation continues to integrate a territorial cooperation dimension into the EU Arctic Policy.

Interreg Arctic Cooperation

What will the Interreg Arctic Cooperation do?

Interreg Aurora and Interreg NPA programmes will jointly:

  • Participate in joint initiatives and collaborate at Arctic events.
  • Organise Clustering calls to foster synergies and cooperation among Arctic and near-Arctic stakeholders and projects, bridging the two Arctic Interreg programmes.
  • Raise awareness of the programmes’ role within the EU Arctic Policy.
  • Enhance coordination and exchange at the programme management level to provide even better support to our beneficiaries.

You can participate in a clustering call

In the autumn of 2025 Interreg Aurora and Interreg NPA are going to launch a joint call for clustering projects. Ongoing or finalized projects funded by either programme during the funding period 2021-2027 are invited to join efforts and submit a clustering project application that leads to better outputs and results and a greater outreach for the dissemination of the results from the two programmes.

Clustering projects are expected to give a higher profile to topics relevant to people living in the Arctic and contribute to the practical implementation of the EU Arctic Policy in communities.

A coordinated call
The two Interreg Arctic Programmes will coordinate the call for applications, this means that there will be frequent joint events and a close collaboration between the programmes during project development and assessment. However, please note that specific Terms of reference apply for each programme detailing eligibility criteria, project size, budgets and durations, leading to:

  • Interreg Aurora funding cross-border clustering project
  •  Interreg NPA funding transnational clustering projects.

The call will launch in early 2025 and run from 8 September to 2 October, 2025. Several events will take place online and in person to present the terms of reference, expectations from the call, support to project and partnership development.
