The Lead partner from the University of Lapland visited their partners at Umeå University in March 2025, further strengthening the collaborative relationship in support of the project Indigenous Digital Storytelling with New Media goals. The visit fostered rich, engaging discussions and laid a strong foundation for key upcoming milestones and future synergies.
During the time together, the project partners actively participated in Ubmejen Biejvieh (Sámi Week), an annual celebration honouring Sámi culture, history, and traditions. A highlight of the visit was the exhibition at Västerbottens Museum, where they explored the vibrant heritage and artistic expressions of Sámi communities.
The meeting also served as a valuable platform for knowledge exchange on Indigenous digital storytelling, a central theme aligned with the project’s objectives. These conversations will shape the next phase of the collaboration, ensuring that research outcomes meaningfully support Indigenous representation and cultural preservation in digital media.
As the partnership continues to evolve, the team looks forward to deeper engagement and ongoing knowledge-sharing opportunities.
