Arctic Music Circles

Showcasing the rich cultural diversity of music

In collaboration with Skådebanan Norrbotten the Interreg Aurora funded project Arctic Music Circles and the concept Arctic Pulse took over the Restaurant Stage at Kulturens Hus during Kulturnatten in Luleå, Sweden, on September 7, 2024.

The event featured a diverse lineup of musical performances that attracted a varied audience, consisting of both young and old from different cultural backgrounds and nationalities. Visitors were treated to a musical journey that spanned from opera to Finnish death metal, with seven acts from Northern Norway and Finland: Ramsalt Operapub, Jorma Lover and The Others, Byen som forsvant with Ådalsbandet, The Pulse, Peltokurki, Yungmiqu, and Scavenger’s Daughter.

The event lasted from the afternoon until midnight, and from the first notes, the venue was filled with an enthusiastic audience that stayed throughout the night. The project received a lot of positive feedback from the audience, the artists, and even from the organizers of Kulturnatten, which clearly showed that the event was appreciated and successful.

The event strengthened the international collaboration within Arctic Music Circles, with artists from Sweden, Norway and Finland, reflecting our focus on cultural exchange within the Arctic region. Many of the artists had minority backgrounds, which aligns perfectly with the projects mission to highlight and support cultural diversity, as well as promote minority cultures within the Arctic region.

This event was an important step in establishing the concept Arctic Pulse as a strong brand for Arctic music and a mark of quality for high-caliber music that is created, performed, and organized in the Nordkalotten. Through Arctic Music Circles, the project partners continue to develop Arctic Pulse as a platform to showcase the Arctic music scene and promote cultural exchange in the region.
